The Mission City Council met in regular session at City Hall, 6090 Woodson,
Wednesday, March 13, 1991, at 7:30 pm with Mayor Sylvester Powell, Jr.,
presiding. The following council members were present: Williams, Thomas,
Henderson, Gibbs, VanGarsse, Schnackenberg. Absent: Smith, Anderson.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Thomas moved and Mr. Henderson seconded a motion to approve the minutes of
the February 27, 1991 meeting. The vote was taken and the motion carried
unanimously.
AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY
Mr. Williams moved and Mr. VanGarsse seconded a motion to approve the American
Cancer Society to solicit door to-door, according to the hours specified in
the ordinance, from April 15 to May 31, 1991, without a fee. The vote was
taken and the motion carried unanimously.
SHAWNEE MISSION NORTH DHCA DONATION
Mr. Schnackenberg moved and Mr. VanGarsse seconded a motion to deny the
request for a donation to Shawnee Mission North D.E.C.A. to help fund eight
students to the National Level Competition in Denver, Colorado this coming
April. The vote was taken as follows: AYE Thomas, Henderson, VanGarsse,
Schnackenberg NAY Williams, Gibbs. The motion carried.
RESOLUTION #461
Mr. Thomas moved and Mr. VanGarsse seconded a motion to adopt Resolution #461,
a resolution authorizing and directing the Director of Public Works to submit
the attached five -year program to the Board of County Commissioners of Johnson
County, Kansas for inclusion in the 1992 -96 County Assistance Road System
Program. The vote was taken and the motion carried unanimously.
CURB REPLACEMENT
Mr. Thomas moved and Mr. Schnackenberg seconded a motion to do curb
construction from Reeds Drive to Milhaven Drive at a cost of $5,200. The cost
to be split 50/50 between the City and the four (4) home owners. The vote was
taken and the motion carried unanimously.
RED CROSS SWIM LESSONS SIGN UP
After much consideration it was decided there would be a third session of swim
lessons in order to accomodate as many Mission residents as possible.
SUMMER PROGRAM RUSHTON SCHOOL
Mayor Powell told the council that Genevieve Culbertson, Director of the
Rushton School Summer Program had resigned and that he had no replacement for
her. If anyone was interested or knew of anyone interested would they get in
touch with him.

PUBLIC WORKS MEETING
Public Works Committee Chairman, Lloyd Thomas, announced a Public Works
Committee meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 1991.
ADJOURN
Mr. VanGarsse moved and Mr. Henderson seconded a motion to adjourn at 7:43 pm.
The vote was taken and the motion carried unanimously.
